The House is located amongst the largest concentration of pre-Revolutionary Dutch Stones House in the original thirteen colonies. George Washington slept in a neighboring house in the town. The property is an easy and picturesque two hour drive from NYC, and 40 minutes from Newburgh International Airport. This house is situated on 27 private acres. A gourmet entertaining kitchen looks out to stone walls, manicured lawns and garden beds with perennial plantings. The Stone house has original 18th Century heart pine floors, large exposed beams and window glass from the 1830’s. The furnishings feature select groupings of Asian, European and American period and mid-century antiques. A working stone fireplace has andirons and tools designed by Donald Desky. The dining / living room have a large open floor plan and the 19th Century English solid oak dining table accommodates ten.
Bunny Hollow Estate is a luxury villa rental that has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. An early 20th century addition contains two Queen Bed rooms on the first level and a third Queen Bed room on the second level. The second level master bedroom in the original stone portion of the house and has a Queen Bed and spacious sitting area. The adjoining master bathroom has its own private spa featuring a soaking tub, marble shower with body spray and steam unit, Toto toilet with washlet seat, marble vanity, modern Kohler and Philippe Starck fittings, and exposed stone walls. The two additional bathrooms also feature marble topped vanities, exposed stone walls, Toto washlet toilets. All bedrooms have Frette Linens and Cotton Royal Hotel Towels. A washer /dryer are also located on the 2nd floor.
The light filled Kitchen has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the gardens, lawn and opens to the bluestone deck with outdoor seating and gas grill. The kitchen features counter depth refrigerator, espresso maker, sub zero wine storage, Thermador Professional 6 burner gas range and hood and Bosch dishwasher. The counters are dark green soapstone and maple butcher block. A 19th century cherry dining table and modern chairs seat four.
The fenced-in property provides complete privacy for the heated in-ground 16 x 32 pool. The pool area is surrounded by natural fieldstone walls, bluestone decking and a three step bluestone waterfall. A fieldstone pool house features exposed beams and is furnished with a 20th Century Modern table and chairs, French industrial lights from the 30’s, and a cowhide skin area rug and working stone fireplace. The integrated outdoor lighting beautifully lights your way along the stone walkways as well as around the pool for evening entertaining.
The house has individually controlled cast iron heating in all bedrooms and bathrooms, and hot air heating in the ground floor of the stone house. Other amenities include telephone, fax, wireless internet connection, satellite television and outdoor shower. At home massage sessions can be arranged.
Numerous farm stands sell a bounty of fresh produce and pick your own fruit – apples, strawberries, peaches and more in season. Hudson Valley organic meats, maple syrup, locally made cheese and fresh fish are found in area stores. There are award winning restaurants, wineries, antique shops, and gorgeous mountain views all around.
The weather is between 75-90 in the summer, 55-75 in the fall, the month of October is peak fall foliage season. Winter brings much snow to the area and there is skiing at nearby Hunter Mountain, Windham and Bellayre ski areas all within a 45 minute drive; an all or four wheel drive car is suggested for winter (December to Mid March). Golf is available at nearby courses. Mohonk Mountain House and The Emerson feature award winning spas. Biking, hiking, kayaking are available summer months.
Stone Ridge is situated in the Rondout Valley between the Shawangunk and Catskill Mountains. The nearby larger towns of New Paltz and Kingston have restaurants, antiques, music venues and 19th century stone houses for sight seeing. The towns of Woodstock and Rhinebeck have fine art galleries, shops and restaurants. The Fischer Center designed by Frank Gehry at Bard College is a 45 minute ride and has dance and music performances.
