Travel throughout the world and one can find iconic examples of the stunning architecture penned by the great architects of our day. Here in the United States perhaps no single architect has a more storied image and reputation than one Frank Lloyd Wright. Beginning with his works in the late 1800’s and continuing up till his death in 1959, Wright left his signature designs all over the United States. Great concentrations of his work were found in Chicago, around his Taliesin East compound in Wisconsin, and his Taliesin West compound in Scottsdale. At his schools, he trained a great many architects whom went on to attain their own levels of greatness. Look at the works of any of his top students, and you will immediately notice the influence FLW had on his protégés.

On the grounds of the famed Arizona Biltmore Hotel which was designed by one of FLW’s prize students, lies a property designed by yet another of his graduates, John Rattenbury. Occupying a single level, and utilizing the trademark FLW clerestory windows, the undulating roofline follows the elevated ceilings in all of the more utilized spaces, and the much lower ceilings in all of the passageways between. Long a fan of cinderblock walls, and concrete floors, many of the FLW grads followed suit, providing very clean lines, and no wasted space.
Biltmore FLW is a beautifully crafted home in the Wright mold that has only grown in appeal. The 5,000+ square foot home consists of four bedrooms, and five bathrooms, a remodeled modern kitchen, a catering kitchen and a Family/Entertaining space that overlooks the incredibly verdant backyard. A pool with a beautiful pool house cools the oasis that is surrounded by lush plantings from all over the world.

An “oh so modern” interior when the front doors first opened, is little changed save for the updated furnishings by EST, EST Interiors. Paintings in such a modern setting must match the décor, and that is left up to the “Circus Series” and “Song of Songs” series put to canvas by Marc Chagall. Paintings by Theo Tobiasse and many others adorn the vertical spaces throughout the home.
